Carl Appen named to Editor & Publisher magazine's list of 25 under 35
Not sure if we noted this before, but it's worth noting. Appen has launched a newsletter product called Welcome to Roswell, programmed for new residents of the city. It's a series of emails delivered to subscribers over a set period of time. For sports writer Chris Mortensen has died. Mortensen worked the AJC from 1983-90. He covered the Braves (1983-85), the Falcons (1985-86) and the NFL (1987-89). More here.
Reed Williams joins as an Enterprise Reporter and an Assistant Editor, Local Government. Before Atlanta, he was a senior editor at The Baltimore Sun leading its criminal justice team.
Washington reporter Tia Mitchell has been elected the 536th member of the Gridiron Club, the oldest association of DC journalists.
Scott Trubey and his team, Dan Klepal, Mike Esterl, Brian Eason, Zachary Hansen, Michael Kanell, John Perry, Charles Minshew, and Shawn McIntosh, won a SABEW Best in Business award for data journalism for their series "American Dream for Rent."
Former AJC staffer Monica Richardson is now Senior Vice President at USA Today
Fulton Neighbor - Check out this new publication. Details here. Rachel Kellogg is the bureau chief. According to the story about the launch, the paper "will publish every Wednesday, promises to contribute to the diverse tapestry of Fulton County’s news. In addition to covering local news, high school sports and entertainment opportunities, The Fulton County Neighbor will carry all public notices and legal advertising for the county."

Pamela Kirkland joins as host of GPB News' Morning Edition. She was previously a field producer for CNN and with PBS Newshour. She's also worked at the Washington Post and SiriusXM Radio. Listen for her weekday mornings with newscaster Devon Zwald.

The station has shortened its morning show by 30 minutes. It now ends at 9:30 a.m. From 9:30 - 10 a.m. a new show, ATL Live, has launched. It's feature focused and I'm told part pay to play, but not entirely. Senior producer is Ashley Tillery and Executive Producer is Kelly Corder. Hosts are Becky Sattero (joins from WTOC/Savannah) and Jobina Fortson-Evans (joins from ABC7 in San Francisco).

Angelina Salcedo will start on April 29 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist. She comes from WTSP in Tampa where she was a weekend morning anchor and evening reporter. She also worked in Des Moines, IA. Salcedo grew up in Boston and comes from a journalism family: her father is an anchor for Encuentro Latino, her mother anchored for 20 years at WBZ TV, and her brother is a sports reporter at WCVB TV.
