General

Writer Mickey Goodman has co-authored a new childrens' book, "The Mystery of the Lost Map," with Jim Rhoden, a Cobb County developer. It traces the adventures of two young cowboys who find old saddlebags filled with ancient gold coins and set out to solve the mystery. The book debuted at #1 in its category on Amazon.com.

Associated Press - Former Atlanta AP newsman Peter Prengaman has been named to lead AP's West Region. He's been working in Rio for the last three years.

  • Seth Emerson departs for The Athletic

  • Raisa Habersham is now the paper's Atlanta hyperlocal reporter.

  • J.D. Capelouto is now the paper's DeKalb hyperlocal reporter.

  • Shaddi Abusaid joins the Breaking News team. He's been with the Marietta Daily Journal.

  • Stephen Deere is now covering Atlanta City Hall.

  • Asia Simone Burns joins the Breaking News team. She'd been with WABE radio.

Atlanta Music Grapevine - We've added this music-focused online pub to the database.

Champion - Taylor Robins joins as a staff writer focused on education.

Gainesville Times - Clark Leonard departs for a job at the University of North Georgia.

HLN - Some shifting at the former Headline News Channel. Lynn Smith anchors "On the Story," from Noon - 2 p.m., Mike Galanos anchors "True Crime Live" from 2 - 3 p.m., and Susan Hendricks moves to "Weekend Express."

Inside Gwinnett - Ray Cobb has sold the magazine. Demetrius Jordan is the new (interim) editor.

Marietta Daily Journal - Times-Journal Publishing and Southern Community papers (SCNI) are consolidating their copy and pagination desks. Times-Journal publications are the Marietta Daily Journal, Cherokee Tribune, Cherokee Ledger-News, Rome News-Tribune, Polk Standard Journal, Calhoun Times, Catoosa County News, Walker County Messenger and 14 Neighbor newspapers. SCNI publishes the Albany Herald, Gwinnett Daily Post, Rockdale Citizen, Newton Citizen, Henry Herald, Clayton News and Jackson Progress-Argus.

Neighbor Newspapers

Noreen Cochrane departs as editor of the South Fulton and Henry Neighbors. Christine Fonville moves into that position from DeKalb. DeKalb no longer has a dedicated editor, so info should go to their general DeKalb Neighbor email, which is going to be overseen by Rachel Kellogg.

Pulse magazine - The AJC is revamping Pulse magazine. Still focused on nursing issues. The print edition is done, but the magazine continues in digital form. The editor is Fiza Pirani.
