The magazine launches a special publication, The Atlanta 500. It'll highligh "the most influential leaders in Atlanta, across all industries from banking and law to education and healthcare." Folio magazine names Atlanta magazine a finalist in the Eddie and Ozzie Awards. This is for the April issue on race.

A new reporter joins the paper's investigative group. Veteran journalist Yamil Berard will join as a quick hit/rapid response investigative reporter. Over her career, she has won numerous state and national awards for her investigative work. Her topics have included school construction spending, hospital finance, low-income housing, predatory lending and medical examiner errors. Berard, who is a native of Cuba, has spent most of her career in Texas. In addition to working more than 20 years at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, she also has worked as an associate producer/writer for a DFW TV station and, most recently, as an editor and writer for a financial website.
Former reporter Mark Bixler is now senior associate director of external communications for Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, a pharmaceutical company that makes vaccines and medicines for animals.

Car Biz Today - Mark Wallace Maguire is now Managing editor. He was recently editor of the Cobb Business Journal.

Robert Jimison joins as a producer on the Political Rewind show. Was previously a GPB intern and worked at CNN.
Stephen Fowler was a producer for All Things Considered on GPB. He moves into a reporter job in September.

Georgia Public Television - Bill Niguts "Political Rewind" show will now be seen on TV as well as heard on the radio. Look for it on Sundays at 9 a.m. Do we think Nigut can really do TV? We'll see if he's got a knack for it!
GlobalAtlanta - Congrats to Trevor Williams on the birth of his son, Barrett Broker Williams!

WDUN Radio - John Weatherbee joins as meteorologist. You may remember him from CBS46.

I saw a familiar face on CBS46 recently. Sure enough, Thomas Roberts has joined as afternoon anchor. He's worked previously at NBC News, MSNBC, CBS, The Insider/Entertainment Tonight and CNN.
Molly McCollum joins as weekend meteorologist. She joins from KWCH in Wichita, KS and KTUL in Tulsa, OK.
Two anchors switch: Tracey Hutchins moves to mornings and Shon Gables to mornings.
Kim Passoth departs. She'll be working for a station in Los Angeles.

The Eric Von Haessler show adds an hour. It'll now run from 9 a.m. - noon with thirty minutes after that online. That starts Aug. 6 according to Ho.

Carl Willis departs the station. He'll be anchoring weekends and reporting during the week at WJLA TV in Washington DC.
The station is adding online newscasts from 7 - 9 a.m. This is the period when Good Morning America is on the TV.
WXIA-TV/11Alive
Hope Ford joins as general assignment reporter. She was previously with WFMY TV in Greensboro/Winston Salem, NC.
The station launches a new show, "The Reveal," on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. More at http://tinyurl.com/ycu3vywu. The show is described as "an investigative show exposing inequality, injustice, and ineptitude created by people in power throughout Georgia and across the country."
Look for a new documentary from Matt Pearl. It looks at Atlantans facing hard times & trying to rise up, through a free 20-day program that offers a crash course (and almost always a job) in construction. It's called IN CONSTRUCTION.
Ryan Dennis is producing the station's entertainment feature, The A Scene.

John Walker was named PRSA Georgia's Chapter Champion for August. He runs an agency called "Chirp."
