Sarah Douglas’ media placements include Associated Press, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, various trade publication and both local television and radio stations.
Sarah was born and raised in Atlanta and has spent her entire professional career in the city. Before taking over the Atlanta Press Club in 2003, Sarah worked as Development Director for the YWCA in Northwest Georgia where she handled all aspects of fundraising and promotion for the organization. She has also worked in corporate communications handling marketing, public relations and event planning for a local insurance company. She has experience in television having majored in broadcast communications at Elon University in North Carolina and working as an intern at both at WXIA-TV and TBS.
While at the Atlanta Press Club, Sarah was responsible for raising the club’s total annual income more than 60 percent, surpassing both 2005 and 2006 income goals. She worked closely with members of the Atlanta media in a variety of ways including governance of the club by a Board of Directors that included 23 journalists, organization and execution of the club’s Political Debate Series each election year and annual special events (Gala Dinner, Holiday Author Party, Gorilla Ball TV Blooper Event).
Her accomplishments at the press club include launching the monthly Newsmaker Luncheon series featuring high-profile speakers including Shepard Smith, Elizabeth Edwards, Pat Mitchell, Margaret Spellings, Ari Fleisher, Senators Isakson and Chambliss and President Jimmy Carter.
Sarah was a member of the Leadership Cobb Class of 2001 and is a past president of the Board of Directors for the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Pocketbook Politics. She was a member of the Honorary Commanders Association class of 2002 and volunteers with a variety of local nonprofits.
